Can I book my reservations on-line?
Yes. Please use our Online Reservations form to book your reservation online. Simply pick the days for your vacation, check the availability and book it.

Guaranteed Advance Deposits
What is The Sanderling's deposit policy?
Reservations must be guaranteed with a full deposit covering all charges for the first night reserved. The remaining balance must be paid in full upon arrival. Early departures are considered as cancellations of reserved days, and are subject to appropriate charges and immediate payment.
Deposits may be made in cash, money order, check or approved credit card. Checks will be accepted up to 30 days prior to arrival date, and all checks must be received within seven days after requesting the reservation. Otherwise, the reservation will be cancelled automatically.
Reservations including a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Holiday may be subject to a minimum length of stay or a particular package plan.

Third Person Charges
How many people do your guest rooms accommodate?
All guest accommodations are designed for comfort, privacy and two guests per room. Exceptions are permissible in designated rooms as authorized by management. All rooms are furnished with King beds. Rooms that include a queen size sofa bed are available upon request. Connecting rooms are available. Third person charge of $50 per person per night. Guests over the age of 17 are considered a third person.

Cancellation Policy
What is your cancellation policy?
A refund will be accorded only to those reservations cancelled 7 days or more prior to the reserved date of arrival. Cancellations made within 7 days of the room deposit are non-refundable regardless of the reason.
Early departures are considered as cancellations of reserved days and are subject to appropriate charges and immediate payment.

Pet Policy
What is the pet policy?
Sorry, no pets or animals are permitted on the property. Boarding for pets is available at Martin's Point (252-261-2250). $10 for cats and $11.50-$18.50 for dogs depending on weight. Prices are per day.

Children
Can the resort comfortably accommodate children?
The Sanderling's accommodations, amenities and dining facilities are designed to appeal to adults. Well-behaved children are welcome. For a more comfortable stay, families with children may wish to reserve one of our three- or four-bedroom Station Bay Villas adjacent to the Inn.

Handicapped Services
Can the resort accommodate guests with special needs?
We make every effort to accommodate the needs of handicapped individuals; however, our beach location and multiple buildings can prove challenging. Please discuss any special needs with the Front Office Manager in advance of your visit.

Complimentary Services for Registered Guests
What complimentary services are offered during my stay?
All rates include newspapers in lobbies, afternoon tea and cookies, and use of the Fitness Center and swimming pools. Use of the exercise/weight room in the South Inn is restricted to adults 18 years or older. Tennis, spa treatments and special programs will incur additional charges.

Check-in time is after 4:00pm daily as rooms become available. Check-out time is prior to 11:00am.

Do you offer travel agents commissions when they book clients to stay at The Sanderling?
Yes, we pay a 10% commission on rooms only. Travel agents themselves are offered a discount if they come mid-week, depending on availability. This offer is not available during Peak Season. Click here to be added to The Sanderling Travel Agents distribution list for special offers.

Lifesaving Station Reservations & Attire
Are reservations needed in order to dine in The Lifesaving Station and what is the attire?
Reservations are requested for dinner and should be made prior to your arrival to ensure the dates and times you prefer.
Resort casual attire is requested. We request no jeans for dinner.

The Sanderling's Gift Shop is located in the Audubon Room of the Main Inn (right around the corner from where you check-in). Our Wellness Boutique is located in the lobby of the Fitness Center where you can find an array of spa accessories, yoga items and homeopathic treats. Visit our Online Gift Shop and shop from the comfort of your own home!

Fitness Center
What are your policies regarding use of your Fitness Center?
The Fitness Center is available to resort guests, 18 years or older. Outside guests may use the Fitness Center for $20 a day or $80 a week.

Concierge Services
Our resort concierge is on duty to assist our guests with making dining and activity reservations. They will be happy to share information about our many local attractions and historic sites. Please contact our resort concierge at Ext. 713 or 313.

Transportation
Do you provide transportation to the resort?

Ice is available in the vending room on the second floor of the North Inn, on the first floor of the South Inn, and on the Main Inn on the first floor.

Laundry
48-hour laundry service is available for items turned in to Housekeeping before 10:00 am. Laundry bags and a schedule can be found hanging on the laundry hook in your closet. Dry cleaning service is available off-property and usually requires two to four days for completion. Call Ext. 123 for pickup.

Maintenance
Guest rooms are checked constantly for necessary maintenance, however, if something is in need of repair, please call the Front Desk at Ext. 575 and we will respond as soon as possible.

Security
Security personnel are on duty nightly. The main access doors to each of the Inns are usually locked at 10:00 pm for the safety of our guests. Please do not prop open any exterior doors to facilitate re-entry. Use your room key to reenter your Inn's lobby through the front door after hours.

Telephone/Voicemail
You will find a telephone directory for the Outer Banks and phone use instructions in your room. Calls made within the resort's property are free of charge. All local and long distance calls (including toll-free and credit card calls) will incur a $1.00 access fee that will be billed to your room account.

Video Rental
There are no video rentals, DVD players are now available to be signed out at the Front Desk at no charge. All rooms also include a CD Clock radio.

Newspapers, Magazines and Reading Materials
Daily newspapers are provided in the Audubon Room of the Main Inn and in the lobby reading rooms of the North and South Inns. You will also find a variety of magazines and popular books in each location. Please return borrowed items to these public areas for the enjoyment of other guests.

Internet Access
Does The Sanderling provide computers for guest use?
Unfortunately, The Sanderling does not have computers or kiosks available for guest use. However, high-speed Internet access (WiFi) is available in the Main Inn lobby, upstairs, downstairse and guestrooms. Guests with laptop computers may also access the Internet via their own ISP using their modem connected to the data port located on the room phone. Please note, standard phone charges apply.

We do not have lifeguards on our beach, so for your own safety, please observe the red flags when posted, which means stay out of the water. If flags are not posted, please use caution when entering the water at all times. Click here for more water safety information.
